We were thrilled to welcome the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (@spab1877 ) to our Heritage Careers Fair earlier this month!

SPAB inspired students with hands-on activities and insights into their flagship Scholarship and Fellowship programmes, which train the next generation of craftspeople and architects to care for historic buildings with skill and sensitivity.

From trying out sketching to handling traditional craft tools, attendees got a real taste of what it means to protect our built heritage for future generations.

Last week we welcomed students from schools across London to our Conservation and Heritage Crafts Workshops, two days of creativity, learning and a lot of hands-on making!

Students tried their hand at woodcarving, stone lettering, gilding and leatherwork, guided by brilliant craftspeople Takako Jin, Rob Postle, Jo Grogan and Deborah Carre. We also heard from Jessica Abel from the V&A Museum, who shared insights into life as a conservator and the importance of caring for our cultural heritage.

It was fantastic to see everyone so engaged, carving, creating, and getting a bit dusty in the process!
