Pudding Lane and The Monument

In this option (offered on Wednesdays) based in St Margaret Pattens, one of Wren’s incredible churches, we use objects and storytelling to introduce Christopher Wren (the great scientist and architect) and how he became the architect of the new City of London. Hands-on activities will see children drawing with quill pens and building towers with building blocks.

We will also walk the streets where the Fire raged and tell the story of its spread, the destruction of London, and how it enabled Wren to transform the City. We enact firefighting with buckets, look at the Monument, and visit St Magnus the Martyr where children dress up.

All this with a wonderful story of Wren’s life and even a chance to dress up!

This learning session is free however you can choose to add on entry to The Monument at a small additional cost. If you decide to include this as part of your day, our guide will be happy to take your pupils up the Monument to enjoy the view and experience. Please do let us know at the time of booking if you would like to add this to your trip.
